Some people don’t know what a friend is. I have many acquaintances but not many friends. I’m a person who thinks a person should earn the title of friend.
I also take the term further then the above meaning. If I think of you as a friend, anytime you are in trouble I’ll be there, if you fall I’ll pick you up. If you are upset for any reason, I will share your pain. Which is why I don’t have many friends. Some say this is extreme, I call it friendship. Why do I bring this up? A friend that I wrote about in the blog that was leaving is a friend of mine. The reason she has to leave is (surprise here) budget cuts. I can’t see why my friend should lose her job. The company is funded and there isn’t that many people anyway. She has a family and a home to worry about and it’s just not fair!
Some of you are thinking, so what, she’s losing her job, go on unemployment. Well, she’s an intern and where she works is a school. Now you asking why should I care about some woman somewhere else? No reason at all, but I am. You see if it was a friend of yours and I was reading about him/her I’d be upset, no one should have to worry about a job, food, housing, or clothing in the U.S. whether it’s a laymen or a student or a professional worker. We have come to the point where we are worrying about all our needs and there is no one to help! My friend may say she’ll be fine, and who knows, she maybe. But like all people in school, they are working for something great and the end, if it isn’t there then they lost all that time for nothing. So when your friend comes to you and says, “I just lost my job and it’s what I always wanted to do” will you say, “oh grow up” “get over it, baby” or will you really be upset and try to help what ever way you can?
As I said, I take the meaning of friend to the extreme and I think everyone should. We use the term “friend” so freely that the meaning is lost. So, “Blonde” (not her name) if you’re reading this, know this, I will always be there for you if you need to talk about things, or what ever. You have the ways to contact me please use them.
Remember: we are only here for a short time, try to help each other.
Be nice to animals and keep coming back for more
Your friend and animal lover
