OK, News report today that had me going nuts (yeah it an animal story)

The story was set in North Dade, the story was about people mad about iguanas taking over the area.

The people were upset over the fact that the iguanas numbers were increasing faster then they should. The homes are getting “pooped on” (residents words not mine) and they are all over. One man said that he thinks it’s because the golf course that was there is now just an open field with grass taller then hip high.

Then the man said they were thinking about trapping them and doing something with them. Then the reporter said something that got me mad, “the residents are looking to get help so they can return the area back to the ones that belong there, the residents”. Being an animal lover and a dad of and iguana, I have to say, this is such a bad story. I’ve said it in the past and I’ll say it again, people here in Miami love to kill things and the best thing to kill and get a way with is an animal. These babies have been in the area for a long time and the golf course had a problem with them. They would do what the do naturally, which is eat grass and sun bathe but the golfers would get upset when their balls were moved by a passing iguana. So the place lost business and closed down and the owner walked away from the property. Great for wild life, bad for people in area who hate wildlife. So why would I be upset? Why should I be worried about animals that I may never see, or even be around? Let’s see, animal lover, animals being put out of their environment for people to take over, you’re right, why should I care? So what, we kill off an animal, so what we choke the area and kill the land with houses and people that want to kill but don’t want to go to jail. You’re right, I’ll stop worrying about that right now. Oh by the way, those same people that want to kill the animals, when they run out of animals to kill, watch your kids, they’re next, then you. So yeah, I shouldn’t worry about the animals. Now, think about what’s happening around you. The people are trying to get rid of the following animals:

Egrets

Some breeds of dogs

Brown anoles (from Cuba)

Parrots

Alligators

Snakes

Iguanas

Whales that beach themselves( and their young)

Vultures

All the above has made Miami what it is today, a paradise. So if this list loses all that are on it, what do you have?

(Being from New York I hate to say this) You have a very hot New York City.

Kill even one of these off and you upset the eco system and start problems, so yeah, I shouldn’t worry about that. But if you have kids, you should be very worried about this matter.

Your kids and grandkids are going to miss out on the joys and wonders that truly make Miami great.
